How To Eat Like A Skinny Girl
Habits of Skinny Girls
How Do They Stay So Thin?
It seems to be a mystery, doesn’t it? Those women who seem to be able to eat whatever they want and not gain a pound. How do they manage to stay so thin when they seem to eat all the time? How do they remain thin but never seem to exercise?
There are a few things that seem to be common among a lot of thin women, strangely enough. And we’re not talking about genes, or women who unfortunately have an eating disorder. We’re talking about healthy, naturally thin women.
I’ve compiled a list of habits that I have noticed being fairly common across the board. Not everyone follows every habit, but a lot of thin women I know seem to have several of these habits.
How do they do it?

DON’T EAT THE CAKE.
Thin women see it, they like it, they want it, they eat it.
Thin women don’t deny themselves. Think about it. Imagine that there’s a delicious chocolate cake sitting on the counter. How much more do you want chocolate cake if someone tells you not to touch the cake, that you can’t have any chocolate cake? Then after giving in, you feel like you have to eat the whole cake (at least half of it). You go nuts, because forbidden cake tastes so much more delicious than regular cake.
Thin women have a good relationship with food.
Thin women don’t see food as bad. Or even good. It’s a necessary part of life, and you must eat to live. So if one day they go crazy and eat a burger with fries and a milk shake, they aren’t obsessed with it. It’s not that they don’t care, they’re neutral. There’s no feeling attached to the meal except the satisfaction of having eaten a burger and fries and had a milkshake.
Thin women order the small.
They enjoy that ice cream as much as you do, but they order a small. Not because they can’t finish it, or they don’t want it that bad. It’s because the small is just enough to enjoy and take care of the craving.
Order the Small
Thin women don’t eat it (delicious but unhealthy crap) all the time.
The saying is true, everything in moderation. Portion control is something the French have been famous for, but your thin American friends have been doing it, along with the French. Almost any food is okay once in a wall, but if you have it two or three (or more) times a week, that’s just excessive.
Thin women drink water.
Forget soft drinks, diet drinks or processed juices. Nice regular water is what they drink most of the time. If you need a little interest, add something like lemon or a tea bag (no extras).
Thin women eat until they’re satisfied, not until they’re full.
You know that feeling you get when you have just one more bite at Thanksgiving dinner and suddenly you feel awful, or can’t breathe? You ate too much. Thin women rarely, if ever, eat like this. Portion size is important. What is also important is to take time to enjoy the food. They slow themselves down and take time to chew, so that the signal from their stomachs have time to reach their brains to tell them they’re full.
Thin women eat at the table.
It’s important to not just eat, but to enjoy the experience of eating. Sitting in front of the television tends to allow you to just shovel the food in, or snack on less than healthy treats. And if you’re out with friends, you’re more likely to eat more slowly, because you’re talking and laughing with each other.
Eat like a queen in the am
Thin women eat breakfast.
It gets the metabolism going. Plus, you have all day to work off what you ate. Another saying seems to be true: eat like a king for breakfast, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. If you skip meals, your body starts to realize that it doesn’t know when the next meal is coming, and so metabolism slows down and stuff like sugars get stored as fat. It’s like when camels drink a lot of water before going into the desert and stores it in its hump. Well, in this analogy, your tummy, or your thighs, are your hump.
Thin women carry snacks.
Of course, you’re going to get hungry at some point. If you carry your own snacks, it prevents you from grabbing the first thing you see, which chances are, is not very healthy. At that point, you’re just so hungry, you don’t care that much. But if you thought ahead and had your own (hopefully healthy) snacks in your purse, or glove compartment, you have the fuel to continue your errands.
Thin women don’t eat diet foods.
No, not because they don’t need them. Diet foods tend to be processed foods. Even though the label says fat free, that fat is replaced by other things to make it edible, like sugar. And you know what sugar is stored as, right? Plus, the high salt content that is generally found in these products can make you retain water, and depending on any other health issues, can make your blood pressure go up.
Thin women love sleep.
Sleep is important, everybody knows that. Sleeping is part of a daily cycle of bodily functions and events called your circadian rhythm. What you may not realize, is that your metabolism is also part of that circadian rhythm. A great deal of studies suggest that sleep is vital to keeping your metabolism consistent. There doesn’t seem to be agreement of how that happens, though.
Bedtime sleepy head
Thin women don’t eat before bed.
This ties in with your circadian rhythm again. It’s like someone at the end of the work day going around and turning off the lights, the coffee machine and setting the alarm. When you’re getting sleepy and getting ready for bed, some functions of your body are essentially powered down, like your metabolism. If you just had dinner shortly before hopping in the bed, the manager of your body can’t turn that light off. And just like in the office, if you’re there late working, you might be the only one, so you’re making copies yourself, team members you need have gone home for the day, and you’re just generally slowed down. Just like your metabolism. A good rule of thumb is to eat a couple of hours or more before bedtime.
Thin women don’t weigh themselves very often.
They let their clothes be their guide. If they notice their jeans are fitting a little tight, they make the adjustment in their diet. Maybe they’ll have a salad for lunch instead of the burger and fries. No hopping on the scale every day, because really, it would drive them nuts. Weight fluctuates a little bit from day to day, and your weight even fluctuates throughout the day (I’ve seen quotes of anywhere between 2 to 4 pounds).
So I hope I have helped demystify some of the secrets of thin girls and women. Is there one of the habits listed that is surprising to you?
