I am a native Atlantan currently living in Atlanta, which seems to be getting more and more rare.
I haven’t always been interested in fashion. There was that sophomore year in high school where I wore nothing but t-shirts and jeans. Looking back, I cannot believe I did that! But the pictures confirm it. I think at the time I just wanted not to think about what to wear, but after a while, it became a challenge to see if I could go the entire year wearing nothing but t-shirts and jeans.
However, almost exactly I year later, I shed that uniform, picked up a Vogue and I have been in love with fashion ever since. To me, fashion is akin to art. However, unlike works like Monet or Renoir, clothing is something you can touch and feel. Fashion is out in the world, for everyone to love and to share. I have an appreciation for labels with a rich history, and the exquisite work of a handmade piece. I once even made a blazer for myself, almost entirely by hand. It was a lot of work and I never did get the sleeves right, but the way that lapel rolled just right was a thing of beauty. Sometimes I pull it out just to look at it and marvel.
I don’t think it’s quite right to say that I have a passion for fashion. I don’t know, it feels like more than that. I feel like a love of fashion and an appreciation for it is a part of me. It’s like water or air. No matter where I go, no matter what I’ve done, I have always had an eye for beauty in this form.
I’m sure that it shows. Over the years, I have had friends and some acquaintances ask me to help them find things that compliment them. My family knows that whenever I show up, I’m probably going to be wearing my signature scarf (or if it’s too hot, it’s probably in my purse). I believe that everyone, no matter what his or her size, deserves to look and feel confident in their skin.
Besides fashion in the form of clothing, I just enjoy beautiful things and want to surround myself with them. I do also love art, hence my reference to French Renaissance painters (my favorite). Like everyone else, I want to have beautiful, glowing skin and enviable hair. I am tall—5 feet 11 inches. I was not fortunate enough to have been a professional model, and as a result, I did not have beautiful garments made for me to fit just so. Therefore, I know what it’s like to struggle to find something to wear, something that fits well and still represents who I am.
For all these reasons, I decided to start my blog. To have a platform to express my love of fashion and beauty in many forms and share it with others. But this is more than just a fashion blog. While I do believe that looking good helps you feel good, the converse is true: feeling good, that is, living a healthier lifestyle, contributes your overall appearance. As such, I will also discuss health and beauty topics.
Whether you’re searching for your style, need a few useful fashion tips, or looking for suggestions to make your life a little healthier, I hope that I can help you find what you are looking for. If you find any of my posts useful, please, share with your friends. I love love, and I want to spread it.
Again, welcome. I am glad that you are here.
